Wine lovers have been flocking to the Yadkin Valley for the past decade and the region is quickly becoming a draw for beer enthusiasts as well. Several breweries have opened their doors recently in the area and a Boonville winery is now including beer on its tasting menu as well.

RagApple Lassie Vineyard has partnered with White Street Brewing Company based in Wake Forest, said Tasting Room Manager Morgan Harrison.

“We now have available for purchase by the bottle four different beers from White Street,” he said.

The winery also will be serving beer by the pint or flight tastings.

“In any given group of wine tasters visiting us, it’s not unusual to have people in the group who also enjoy or even prefer beer,” Harrison said. “I think this will be a really great way to offer something more for our customers when they come to visit.”

Beers available by the bottle are White Street Brewing’s Kolsch, Hoptimist IPA, Emmalynn Belgian Blonde and Scottish Ale.

Winery owner Lenna Hobson said they are proud to become involved in the rise of craft breweries across the state and in the Yadkin Valley by offering White Street beers at RagApple Lassie. Hobson said she was thrilled when White Street’s owners reached out to them about partnering up.

“When these folks came calling looking for wines to be their exclusive wine in their location in Wake Forest, it was a marriage made it heaven,” Hobson said.

Not only will White Street beers be available at RagApple Lassie, but RagApple Lassie wines will now be available in the tap room at White Street Brewing.

Hobson said it allowed them to find a new avenue to branch out without having to completely reinvent themselves.

“It allows us to meet the needs of the traveling public,” she added. “In any group of two or more, there’s always one beer drinker or one person who’s thrilled to find beer available. It just allows us to connect with another part of the market.”

White Street Brewing Tap Room is located at 218 S. White St. in Wake Forest. It also hosts monthly events which feature its beers as well as RagApple Lassie Wines. For more information on White Street Brewing, visit its Facebook page or www.whitestreetbrewing.com.
